Case Introduction

The pharmaceutical industry is divided into the drug manufacturing sector and the pharmaceutical distribution sector, both of which demand high standards and speed in intralogistics while also needing to comply with ever-changing strict regulatory requirements and fierce market competition.

How to shorten delivery cycles, reduce distribution costs, improve drug quality, and enhance service levels challenges every professional in the pharmaceutical industry. Recently, Multiway Robotics partnered with an international pharmaceutical company to achieve intelligent logistics transformation and upgrades, helping the company realize logistics intelligence and information digitization, thereby enhancing its competitiveness to meet rapidly changing market demands.

Flexible Intelligent Logistics Solution

Addressing the Drawbacks of Traditional Handling

Multiway Robotics

The traditional manual handling model involves high labor intensity, and the steadily rising labor costs put pressure on enterprises. Moreover, with diverse order structures, storage patterns, and operational modes, manual handling often results in low efficiency and low accuracy.

In addition, due to the wide variety of drugs and the complex storage requirements, logistics demands a high level of specialization. Operations often require multi-temperature zone and cross-floor handling, and alternating hot and cold environments pose physiological challenges to workers. Therefore, there is an urgent need to leverage advanced technologies and equipment to optimize handling at every stage and improve production efficiency.

Multiway Robotics offers a full range of autonomous forklifts, AMRs, unmanned tow vehicles, and warehouse robots, providing integrated intelligent logistics solutions for both handling and storage operations. Driven by technology and with self-developed core hardware and algorithms, Multiway Robotics has built a strong technological barrier and has successfully implemented numerous large-scale projects in the pharmaceutical industry.

This international pharmaceutical company adopted a flexible solution for logistics automation upgrades, optimizing operations by improving handling efficiency and accuracy, reducing labor costs, and enhancing logistics management capabilities, thereby achieving fully automated, efficient, and information-driven warehouse operations.

Pure SLAM Natural Navigation
Zero On-Site Modifications

Multiway Robotics

Multiway Robotics provided this pharmaceutical company with a flexible solution combining hardware and software: the “Stacker Autonomous Forklift MW-SL14 + Intelligent Scheduling System RCS + Equipment Control System WCS.” This solution enables fully automated operations in the workflow, greatly improving efficiency and showcasing the unique advantages of the system:

Pure SLAM laser navigation creates maps in real time and continuously corrects the robot’s position, without the need for QR codes, reflective markers, or other manually placed reference objects. This truly achieves zero on-site modifications and adapts to any environment.

Uniform long straight aisles often affect SLAM laser navigation’s distance judgment. Multiway Robotics’ advanced laser SLAM natural navigation algorithm not only adapts to long straight driving but also achieves a single-positioning accuracy of ±5 mm.

The Equipment Control System (WCS) connects upstream and downstream processes and integrates all on-site equipment. During the operation of autonomous forklifts, it automatically and seamlessly interfaces with conveyors, lifts, wrapping machines, automatic doors, and other equipment, reducing robot idle time and achieving industry-leading efficiency.

The Stacker Autonomous Forklift MW-SL14 has a compact design, suitable for navigating extremely narrow aisles. With a turning radius of only 1,140 mm, it saves approximately 30% of operational space compared to other robots.

With the support of the Intelligent Scheduling System (RCS), multiple autonomous forklifts can operate in aisles just over 2 meters wide, using intelligent traffic management and unified multi-robot path planning. This effectively resolves congestion, waiting, and deadlock issues, achieving globally optimized paths and improving operational efficiency by 40%.
